Details:
Explore the colorfull beauty of the  Argentina's Northwest corner, from the dry high altitude, volcano- dotted desert of the Puna Plateau to the rainforest of Parque Nacional Calilegua. Framed in the crossroads between the Inka and Spanish culture, the villages and people of Northwest Argentina appear to be unchanged since colonial times. In recent years, a favorable exchange rate of the Argentine peso has flooded this region with tourists. The study of the National Parks of the area will also highlight the impact of tourism on the traditional way of life of these ancient populations and the importance of sustainable management.  Be ready to spot high altitude South American fauna, such as vicunas, llamas and "suris"  in their orignal habitats, together with postcard perfect villages.

Science Elective:
GEOL 3130 - Geology of National Parks - 3 credits
Preference is given to students previously enrolled in the Pampas to the Andes Program.
